What is vaginal tightening?
Vaginal tightening, otherwise known as vaginoplasty, is a procedure done to tighten the vagina. Vaginal tightening involves the tightening of the pelvic muscles to improve muscle tone and strength. While there are other vaginal tightening options, vaginoplasty provides more long-lasting and more pronounced result. The benefits of the vaginal tightening surgery include increased sensation during sex, increased self-esteem, and tighter, stronger vaginal muscles.
Why is it performed?
It is common for the pelvic muscles to stretch, loosen and weaken after childbirth and as a result of ageing. Women who feel that their vagina is too loose or who experience poor sexual satisfaction due to vaginal laxity, vaginal tightening or vaginoplasty may be beneficial. It is worth considering vaginal tightening surgery if you have noticed a change in the internal structures of your vagina, and they have become looser and stretched over time; if you feel pain during sex; if you have discomfort from scarring; if you suffer from stress urinary incontinence; or if you have experienced reduced sensation during sex as a result of childbirth.
How does it work?
The procedure typically takes about an hour to complete. Vaginal tightening can be conducted either under local or general anaesthetic, depending on Dr Rampersadh’s recommendation. If you undergo the procedure under local anaesthetic, you may be given a mild sedative.
Depending on your unique case, your gynaecologist can either focus on tightening of the muscle at the vaginal entry or tightening of the tissue at the back of the vaginal wall. During the procedure, Dr Rampersadh will shorten and join the stretched muscles in the vagina, and remove any excess tissue. This will result in much tighter vaginal muscles, and a smaller vaginal diameter. The muscles will be stitched with stitches that will dissolve after a short period of time, and the scarring will be minimal.
Once this aesthetic gynaecological surgery has been completed, it is necessary to take some time to rest and recover properly. Recovery may take up to two weeks and you should refrain from vaginal intercourse for at least 4-6 weeks. You should feel the results of the procedure after about three weeks.
The benefits of the vaginal tightening surgery include increased sensation during sex, increased self-esteem, and tighter stronger vaginal muscles.
